MINI-KICK ACADEMY

Located: Golf View West Soccer Fields, off of Golf View Drive, River Falls

About: The Mini Kicks Academy is a Youth Development Program focused on improving the skills and enjoyment of recreational players ages pre-K through second grade. Mini Kicks is a player centered program that employs a group/pool training concept. Rather than being organized by teams, players train as a large group, then play on randomized teams. The focus is on player development to improve individual skills in a group format. This investment in the youth can positively impact the club for the future, as players will have strong individual skills and the ability to work effectively in different group settings.

Uniforms:

The Mini-Kicks uniform includes shorts & jersey. This Uniform is able to be used for future sessions of Mini Kicks. If you bought an uniform for a previous Mini kicks session you do not have buy another unless you need a bigger size.

Equipment each player will need: Size 4 Soccer Ball, Shinguards,  Tennis Shoes or Soccer Cleats(NO football, Softball or Baseball cleats!, and Water bottle.

ACTIVITIES AND GAMES ARE PLAYER-CENTERED

How will my child benefit from Mini Kicks?
This program has been designed to foster youth development in recreational players aged pre K – 2nd grade. The developmentally appropriate activities and games within the program help develop a player’s love for the beautiful game and sports activities.
Who will lead the training?
Certified Coach by US Youth Soccer will be providing a professional and experienced staff to lead activities and games. Staff may be aided by volunteers.
Why a pool of players and not teams?
Socially and educationally, this format is better for younger children. Young players have an easier time developing individual skills when not in a team scenario where winning is a focus.
What will the players and staff be doing?
All activities and games will have the following objectives:

  • Focus on the individual player, not on the team.
  • Design developmentally appropriate fundamental activities.
  • Train together and mix playing groups.

Youth training will develop the ABC’s. We will designate a part of each session to:

Agility: The ability to start, stop, and move the body quickly in different directions.
Balance: The ability to control the body’s position, either stationary (e.g. standing on one leg) or while moving.
Coordination: The ability to integrate the above listed components so that effective movements are achieved.
Speed: The ability to accelerate and decelerate with age-related power training.

P.A.C.T (Parents And Coaches Together) Education creates fully supportive learning environments, in which coaching staff can be counted on to:

  • Provide clear, concise and correct information.
  • Provide safe and appropriate training area.
  • Include decision making by the players within activities.
  • Ensure activities have implications for the game.

PLAYERS DEVELOP STRONGER SKILLS WHEN THE FOCUS IS LESS ON A TEAM WINNING AND MORE ON AN INDIVIDUAL’S GROWTH
